What To Expect
Leather is an incredibly versatile material that can be used to make a multitude of beautiful, durable things – from stylish clothing to shoes to virtually indestructible luggage, among many other items. In this workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of leatherwork by crafting your own custom leather bag.
You’ll begin this workshop by choosing the leather you’ll use for your bag. We’ll provide a large selection of high quality leather for you to choose from for your bag’s sides. We’ll have lots of bold and bright colors, as well as subtle, classic ones. We’ll also provide several color choices for your bag’s straps, which you’ll cut to the perfect length for you.
After making your selections, you’ll begin transforming them into your one-of-a-kind bag. You’ll learn the skills of cutting, burnishing, riveting, and sewing leather. Along the way, you’ll be introduced to the tools of the trade such as bevelers, dies, anvils, and rivets, as well as our state-of-the-art Sailrite Sewing Machine.
At the end of this workshop, you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind leather bag that you crafted with your own hands, as well as all the bragging rights that go along with it. You’ll also leave with the knowledge and skills needed to make most anything out of leather.
